Advanced Student Fellowships

The Graduate School and several other Emory partner entities offer a number of special fellowships to advanced graduate students. 

Eligibility

Standards of eligibility vary, but in general students must meet these conditions:

  • Applicants must be full time students in a doctoral program, in good standing.
  • Applicants must be in candidacy at the time of application.
  • Graduate students in their 7th or lower year of graduate study at the time of application are eligible to apply. 
  • Applicants may not previously have held an Emory completion fellowship. Unless otherwise noted, the fellowships listed on this page are all considered completion fellowships. 

Guidelines to the fellowships for the 2010-2011 academic year will be posted as they become available.  These will include detailed eligibility and application instructions, as well as notices about any information sessions.

Graduate School Fellowships

  • Dean's Teaching Fellowship (all fields eligible) -- applications due December 15, 2009; information sessions on November 9 and 12
  • Mellon Foundation Graduate Teaching Fellowships (humanities and social sciences) -- applications due January 13, 2010; information session December 1
  • Scholarly Inquiry and Research at Emory (SIRE), Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Scholarly Inquiry and Research at Emory (SIRE), Natural Sciences. 
  • Women’s Club Memorial Award in Graduate Research (all fields eligible)
  • Freie Universität Berlin Exchange (all fields eligible)

General Instructions

Several fellowships require that you submit an Emory transcript.  Please obtain one unofficial transcript from the Registrar (it costs $4.00) and either scan or copy it for all your applications.  You'll find information on the Registrar's transcripts page.

Many fellowships require that you submit a Graduate School Fellowships Application Cover Sheet. It's posted to the right.

Some applications should be submitted electronically, and in those cases you need to submit PDF files.  Please take a look at the instructions for creating PDF files posted to the right.
